About Bridport Choral Society

BCS pic 3 2019

Bridport Choral Society was established around 1900 and at that time, boasted both a Choir and an Orchestra.

We have taken the view that  as there are a number of choirs dedicated solely to Classical music within the area, we should offer a more varied repertoire, which is  pleasurable both to audience and choir. Therefore our repertoire includes a very diverse range of tastes and  includes popular classics, traditional and popular songs, spirituals, and songs from the shows as well as Classical music. There is something to suit all tastes.

We are a friendly and inclusive choir, and currently have about 40 members,  and are always happy to welcome new singers. We have a policy of no auditions for those wishing to join, but we do ask for some musical knowledge (music reading useful but not essential), enthusiasm and commitment to the Choir.  Membership subscriptions are very competitive, currently at £100 a year which is excellent value at less than £3 a session including music.  Please contact us via our contacts page if you would like to join, or turn up to one of our rehearsals during term times  (dates on the calendar page). The first two rehearsals of each session are ‘try us out’ and are free.

We meet on Mondays at 7.30 pm in the Bridport United Church Hall in East Street, with the autumn term commencing  in early September and finishing with the Christmas Concert (seasonal music).  The Spring term starts in early January and ends with the Spring Concert in May.  We also give a number of other performances throughout the year, such as singing  at the Bridport Charter Fair.

We have a channel on Youtube with some examples of recent work. Search Bridport Choral Society.  Or copy this link into Google search.
